Civic Engagement Center of Licking County is a charitable organization in Newark, Ohio. It received its exempt organization status from the IRS in 1994, and has been serving the community for 25 years . The Civic Engagement Center of Licking County holds the belief that education and civil society are inextricably linked, in that it is more important than ever that citizens be educated and trained to think critically and be actively engaged with issues affecting public life. Our mission is to pursue “Individual and collective actions designed to identify and address issues of public concern, and engage with other entities that are working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. This will be accomplished by promoting the quality of life in our community, through both political and non-political processes.
There are many ways you can help, and there is no way we can fulfill our mission without you. We need the help of our community to come together to end homelessness and poverty. We need you to join us.
Donating to the poor or any kind of charity is a good help. Many successful people come from a poor or underprivileged background. They say when you reach the top, you should not forget to send the lift back down. Helping underprivileged people to bring meaning of their lives, is one way to give back to give back to the people whose support got you to a good place. Use your privileges to bring hope to the underprivileged.
Charity does not have to be big or leave a huge impact. A little act of kindness at the right moment can give someone a good day.
The Transitional Housing Program allows homeless families to enjoy clean, stable housing while they work toward independence.
The Veteran Advocacy Services was created to ensure veterans and their dependents have access to every service to which they are entitled.
The Civic Engagement Center Of Licking County is dedicated to creating partnerships with different organizations to address a common goal.
To uphold our mission and to empower members of the community to achieve their highest potential and become economicly self-reliance, the Civic Engagement Center of Licking County collaborates with local community and faith based partners and our volunteers to educate the public and elected officials on the impacts of public-policy and resource allocation decisions within political, economic, and social systems.
The Center also engages in public outreach and education campaigns to increase awareness and information dissemination related to issues and initiatives that have direct impact on the quality of life and economic development in the community. We are eager to collaborate with other civil rights, community and faith based organizations to leverage resources and make a greater impact on our community. It is our goal to advocate for education, economic development, affordable housing, fair redistricting, transportation, small business and community development initiatives and policies and to serve as a voice for impactful change.
